Troubleshooting

This page covers the most common DogeBox1 issues and how to resolve them. Use the search box at the top to jump straight to a symptom.

Start here

Most issues show up first on the indicator light — check the Indicator and Button table for your current state before reading on.

Before digging into a specific symptom, know that two steps resolve the large majority of problems:

  • Reset the device (how) — clears its Wi-Fi and unbinds, fixing most stuck or can't-connect states.
  • Update to the latest app and firmware — both are on Software Release.

Wi-Fi setup & pairing

The app can't find my device during pairing

The app's Add Device scan only finds a device that's in pairing mode, shown by a solid blue light — so check the indicator first.

  • Not solid blue — the device isn't in pairing mode, usually because it was already set up (a demo unit, or a previous owner's). Reset it to clear its Wi-Fi and return it to pairing mode, then scan again.
  • Solid blue but still not found — a phone-side issue: turn on Bluetooth and grant the app its Bluetooth permission (Android also needs Nearby devices / Location), keep the phone within about a meter, and restart the app.
  • No light at all — the device hasn't powered on; check the adapter, cable, and outlet.
I got my DogeBox second-hand and it won't pair

A unit set up by a previous owner may still be bound to their account and hold their Wi-Fi settings, so it never enters pairing mode. Reset it to unbind and return it to pairing mode (solid blue), then pair as usual.

The indicator is stuck on fast blinking blue and never turns green

Fast blinking blue means the device is still trying to join your Wi-Fi (see indicator states). Move it closer to the router and double-check the Wi-Fi password — and that it's a 2.4 GHz network, since DogeBox1 doesn't connect over 5 GHz. If it still won't connect, reset it and set up Wi-Fi again from the app.

Connectivity

The light is solid green, but the app shows the device as Offline

Trust the light over the app here — solid green means the device really is running, so the app is most likely showing a cached status. Pull to refresh on the Devices screen, or fully close and reopen the app (v2.0.5 and later refresh themselves after a long spell in the background), and confirm your phone has internet. A device that has genuinely lost its server link shows slow blinking blue instead.

The light is slow blinking blue and won't turn green

Slow blinking blue means the device has Wi-Fi but can't reach the server. Confirm your home internet works, restart your router, and — if you run a firewall or content filter — make sure outbound connections aren't blocked.

Thermal & noise

The light is fast blinking orange

Thermal protection has engaged because the device is too hot. Clear anything blocking its vents, make sure it isn't enclosed, and move it somewhere cooler with better airflow — it returns to normal (solid green) on its own once it cools down.
